We are seeking a part-time art instructor to lead community and family programs. The family/community programs instructor will help with the day-to-day planning and art instruction of small weekly events as well as larger community events. This position has the possibility of becoming full-time. This position will require night and weekend work as most events fall during this time period.
Planning of family classes and programs.
Provide support and help coordinate community events with other organizations
Support children’s independence and creativity with an emphasis on process art, child-led, and project-based learning philosophies.
May require supervision or mentoring of younger/youth staff members.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director and Studio Manager.
Position Qualifications and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have experience in art education, knowledge of progressive education philosophies, and have an understanding of issues impacting diverse and various socio-economic populations. The candidate must be a good communicator as well as a team collaborator. This position will require flexible hours (weekdays, some evenings, and weekends) and require work out in the community. Reliable transportation is a plus.
This position is part-time (20-30 hours per week) with the potential to become full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with skill level and experience.
